Entry to the US depends on your nationality. Most travellers need either an ESTA (for visa-waiver countries) or a B1/B2 visitor visa.

  • ESTA: for citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries (90 countries), stays up to 90 days
  • B1/B2 visa: for nationalities not on the VWP, or stays longer than 90 days
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months validity beyond travel dates
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
  • Proof of ties to home country (job, property, family)
  • No serious criminal convictions
  • Clear purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting family)
  • Return or onward ticket
