Entry to the US depends on your nationality. Most travellers need either an ESTA (for visa-waiver countries) or a B1/B2 visitor visa.
- ESTA: for citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries (90 countries), stays up to 90 days
- B1/B2 visa: for nationalities not on the VWP, or stays longer than 90 days
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity beyond travel dates
- Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
- Proof of ties to home country (job, property, family)
- No serious criminal convictions
- Clear purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting family)
- Return or onward ticket
